chrisgovero.com is run by Christopher Govero, the author of Clutch. Using the site means these terms apply between you and him. In this page, “I”, “me” and “my” mean him.

Using this site
The site is free to read. You don’t need an account, and there’s nothing to sign for.
What I ask:
- Use it for yourself, your classroom, your library or your bookshop, rather than to resell what’s on it.
- Don’t try to break it, overload it, or get into parts of it that aren’t published.
- Don’t copy the site wholesale to put your name on it.
Linking to any page here is always welcome, and you don’t need to ask.

What belongs to whom
The text of Clutch, the sample pages shown here, the cover artwork and the writing on this site belong to me, or are used with the owner’s permission. The design and code of the site belong to the person who built it, and are used here with permission.
What you can do without asking
- Quote a short passage in a review, a school project, a bookshop display or a news story, with my name and the book’s title alongside it.
- Use the cover image to write about the book, unchanged.
- Share links to any page here.
What needs a yes from me first
- Reprinting longer passages, or a whole sample chapter.
- Selling anything that uses the text, the cover or the artwork.
- Changing the cover, or putting it on something else.
Ask at [email protected]. The answer is usually yes.

Links to other places
Some links here go to other companies’ websites: the shop that sells the book, and social media. Those sites have their own terms and their own privacy rules, and I don’t control what they show, what they charge or what they do with your information.
Prices, delivery and stock are the shop’s business, not mine. If something goes wrong with an order, the shop is who to ask.

This isn’t advice
Clutch is a story. It deals with depression, family strain and pressure, and this site describes those parts honestly so that a parent, teacher or librarian can decide whether it suits a particular reader. None of it is medical, psychological or professional advice, and nothing here is a substitute for talking to someone qualified.
If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out. In the United States you can call or text 988, the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, at any hour. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.

What I can and can’t promise
I write the pages carefully and keep them up to date, including publication dates, retailers and event details. Even so, details change, and a page can be wrong or out of date for a while. If you spot something, tell me and I’ll correct it.
The site is published as it is. I can’t promise it will always be available, that every link will keep working, or that it will suit a particular purpose you have in mind. Where the law allows it, I’m not responsible for a loss that follows from using the site, from a link on it, or from the site being unavailable. Nothing here takes away rights you have as a consumer that can’t be signed away.

Changes to these terms
When the site changes, these terms change with it, and the “last updated” date at the top changes too. Carrying on using the site after that means the new version applies.
